That dream of somewhere else. Second Life, in Art, Mythology and Psychoanalysis

UMBERTO GALIMBERTI

Sognare un’altra vita rispetto a quella che ci capita di vivere è, tra i sogni dell’uomo, quello più antico. Senza questo sogno perhaps were not based on the myths of the gods in the events where one is the life that you would want to live, religions that promise an eternal life beyond what we spend on Earth, the literature where fantastic stories transport us to worlds other than one in which we are forced to live, the music that takes us out of the ordinary space and time to dive in assonance and dissonance unknown to our daily spend.
Without the dream of another life we \u200b\u200bwould not have imagined utopia where no one can take place at the time that has no place, no revolution, compared to the existing, promises "new heaven and new earth" and if not, at least other living conditions, any scientific progress fostered by the dream of reducing the hard work of pain and cruelty, or even to delay death. Without the dream of another life, really, really, really, we could not live. This is indeed the human condition, its treatments, its peculiarities, its beauty. On this dream
primordial, which is likely to find the essence of man, religions have built the concept of "transcendence", a sort of overcoming of existence, in view of other possible scenarios and future. For its part, psychoanalysis, again starting from this dream, he built the concept of "unconscious" where the desire for an elsewhere, compared to the monotony of the everyday and breaks to create alternative scenarios that, when not realized, they become neurotic suffering.
When the dream of another life beyond the limits of desire and imagination, and no longer are satisfied with the scenarios deployed from the myths and religions, or those offered by smaller instances revolutionary or utopian visions, it can happen that We will leave from reality to submit yourself to those paths, now striking dark hours, which we call "madness". A final attempt to continue living when reality does not give us the conditions and without the dream of an absolute elsewhere else we can do is suicide.
A typical realization of this need of man - who was born in a "given" the sole purpose of re-born in a world that he is "created" because our creations found only in a way that is truly "our" - Today it gives us the attendance of the virtual, where each of us can identify with the myth of himself in history that would and can not live in reality, in love that are being obstructed in space who has never attended, dwelling houses or castles, beaches and deserts that has only dreamed of wearing clothes that are not on the market, but each, clothes, feels to finally be himself.
Perhaps many psychoanalytic therapies may shorten their time to the discovery of the unconscious, if every patient brings to his analyst a diskette in which he describes his "Second Life" and if the analyst had the foresight to not just bring your imagination the patient to reality. Because without dreams life is unbearable, and perhaps dreams are not only interpreted but also implemented, unless you want to totally give up your deep self, forgetting the invitation of Nietzsche: "Become what you are."
course, the more attentive and more careful of is the market analysts who study the "Second Life Style" to allow to architects, designers and fashion designers to nurture their creativity and worn endangered and to meet the secret desires, but in Second Life posters, creative personalities to which "healthy realism" that rule our culture does not allow to express themselves except in the virtual. But the anticipated
virtual reality as alchemy pioneered the chemistry, Leonardo's dream of flying the aircraft, the imagination of Democritus atomic physics, quantum chemistry, the interpretation of love from Goethe's "Elective Affinities ". At this point we think that the real is the only remnant of the virtual, the past of the imagination, ciò che resiste all’ideazione e a quella proiezione futura senza la quale l’uomo sarebbe già scomparso in quella noia profonda e letale dove già stava scomparendo Dio, quando, come ci ricorda Kierkegaard, reagendo all’immenso vuoto che lo circondava, con un gesto di immaginazione, creò il mondo.
