Now the ice is artificial: a machine similar to a huge fridge keeps the surface temperature of the ice, so you can make ice already in August (!), when they begin training and keep it until March, when the season ends. Once, however, was natural and could be done only if it was cold: several matches had to be canceled because the ice had melted, forming pools of water.
The natural ice was contained by about 20 cm high aces and had to wet it by hand every night.
